We all know FaceBook is as dodgy as they come. They are spammers and web advertising company, nearly every page made by members is some sort of scam.
I am amazed at all those that share a page for 10 funny videos or get 1000 Zynga chips and you need to put your phone number in, or invite everybody in your friends list. Silly. All you have to do is put it in to Google and pages come up elsewhere that cost you nothing.
That is where someone got them from. They are not theirs and it is used to get your mobile number, or email or worse your money.

So what is FaceBook?
This is just my opinion, and you are more than welcome to comment your own.
I think it is well done, they have got in first.

They sell/use your information.
And boy oh boy do they suck us in to get that info. After all, information is King!!.
Tricky gimmics are used to make you feel part of it too. To give you what you want gets them what they sell. ADVERTISING and DATA

The best and greatest gimmic your website can have is a well managed Profle of your members. Brilliant from day one.
How do they get that information while you have no idea that it is used? There is method in their madness.

They say it is so you can connect with your friends, work collegues or make new friends and find old friends from school work or play.

We can start with your profile name and date of birth. You were born in January 1980?… you’re 30 years old..1965, 45 years old… 1995, 15 years old.
Get the idea. Targeted advertising to 15,30 or 45 year olds can now be achieved by those buying advertising.

Country.
New Zealand? Australia? United States? Targeted advertising.

Join a network, school or group
puts you in a state or region. Targeted advertising.

Play some games,
Mafia wars, Farmville or Fishville (8 million players) Targeted advertising.

Create a Page for a celebrity, band or business.
Webmaster,fishing,builder, plumber,tabloid, paparazzi and celebrity blogging. Targeted advertising.

Sign up for faceBook mobile
so you can connect from your phone. By the way, your phone number is now available to the world. We now have your phone network carrier, Telecom, Verizon, AT&T, Vodaphone etc brilliant!! Targeted advertising.

About you.
Children, Relationship Status, Hometown, Political Views. Targeted advertising.

Work and Education, Likes and Interests (Music, TV…). Targeted advertising.

Contact Information email, Windows live, websites..Targeted advertising.
On and on it goes.

Did I say it is brilliant. We all think it is there for us, but i am afraid it is not.

Take a look at all that you do on FaceBook. Question why do they want that? Why should I put that information in just to see a joke? Should I really put my phone number in there, effectivley give it to someone I know nothing about, or have anything to do with FaceBook or policies just to see three pictures of people on motorbikes or butt cracks.

Remember this, Facebook does not care if you find a long lost friend from school and add them to your ‘friends list’. I know I don’t care if you do. I really don’t.

I posted links on my wall for Mafia Wars mystery bags and Bollywood reels and I got the Captcha popup to fill out. That pop up generated by FaceBook says it all.

Don’t get me wrong. I play there. I have met online some interesting people and seen some interesting posts too. I like FaceBook.
